"Rippa-potomus" has been with us for three years and was the first pig we rescued. She began our journey to rescue farmed animals. She was previously a house pet until her owners realized how big she was getting and didn't have the space for her get. She is very independent, feisty and loves her morning sun baths.
Previously known as "bacon" had a sad future ahead of him. Originally purchased by a someone in Farmington, NM to be killed for a meal until we had the opportunity to intervene. He is loving, spastic and bossy.
AKA "Gyrito". Re-homed as a pair, by previous person from Edgewood NM who could no longer provide for him and his "brother" Turbo. He is one of the sweetest pigs you'll ever meet, loves giving snout kisses, and reminds you of a giant guinea pig.
Re-homed as a pair, by previous person from Edgewood NM who could no longer provide for him and his "brother" Gyro.
Loves head scratches, zoomies, and cuddling his brother.
"SHIMMY" was rescued as a pair with his girlfriend Orbea from the westside animal shelter where she was impregnated in their care. We took the both of them in without prior knowledge of her pregnancy. He likes to feel like he's the boss and likes stomping like he's making mashed potatoes.
"HANZITO" rescued from the westside animal shelter after he was found in the mesa. A little grumpy and grumbly, took the longest to warm up here at the sanctuary but is finding his place.
Rescued as a pair with her brother (Mega) from a neglectful home in Los Lunas, NM where her previous people thought the proper diet for pigs was cake and peppermints. She was dangerously overweight and is blind due to maggots in the folds of her eyes when we took her in. Since recovered, she is mobile, happy with interaction, and bonded with 2 other pigs who like to cuddle her.
Rescued with her real brother, now known as Oakley, from Meadow Lake, NM Rescued with her real brother, now known as Oakley, from Meadow Lake, NM. She and her brother were heavily overweight due to being fed a diet of strictly dog food, and in high quantities. She loves pestering her brother and acting bigger than she is. Don't come around her if you like your shoelaces staying tied.
Rescued with his real sister, now known as Ollie, from Meadow Lake, NM. He and his sister were heavily overweight due to being fed a diet of strictly dog food, and in high quantities. He is the pig that cried wolf, he will be heard squealing no matter the situation, excitement, impatience... he is a lover, and a pretty good escape artist (you would swear he had thumbs).
Previously had a family who decided a pig was not the "pet" for them. He is unique in many ways, starting with the fact that he highly resembles that of a crocodile, loves affection but plays hard to get, is a solo rider.
"ORBI" was rescued as a pair with her boyfriend Shimmy from the westside animal shelter where she was impregnated in their care. We took the both of them in without prior knowledge of her pregnancy. She sounds like a very out of tune Saxophone and is a perfectly protective mother of her kiddos.
Baby girl of Shimmy and Orbea.
She's the smallest of all the pigs, she loves to sneak extra treats during food time and snuggling with her mom and sister.
(AKA GIGA-DEB)
Daughter of Shimmy and Orbea. Almost twice the size of her little sister Choochie. She loves to chase after her little sister, punk her for her food and mean mugging.
Re-homed by his previous family who raised him from a baby. He was very loved and well taken care of, unfortunately they didn't live in the proper zoning to have pigs. He became part of the family very quickly. He is the largest pig at our sanctuary as well as one of the most calm. He loves himself some acorns, and making messes anywhere he can.
Bred on a farm to be used as meat, he and his two sisters were originally purchased by a couple in Texas from a meat farm in attempt to rescue him from "premature slaughter" only to be raised and possibly meet the same fate. The three are now and will forever be living happily together here with us.
A big bull with a big personality. He'

A big bull with a big personality. He's what you would imagine a giant puppy to be like. He's loving, needy, and loves himself some oranges.
With the same unfortunate fate as her brother Buddha and sister Ganesha, we were lucky to get to intervene and take the 3 of them in together. She is sweet, shy, likes to bully her little sister for food, and a very picky eater.
"Neshi" Little sister of Buddha and Karma, she is a little fluff ball of a cow with endless curiosity, love and a big appetite, gladly accepting any and all snacks turned down by her big siblings.
Stewie & his brother Hank were originally purchased by a family from breeders to be eaten who then quickly came to realize they had such unique personalities and individuality and instead became family. The family was no longer in the position to provide a home for them. Gladly, we were able to take them in and give them a forever home.

He is one spunky goat who loves giving kisses, nibbling on your clothes, and head butting his brother Hank in between sun baths on the deck.

He likes to steal the attention from his brother, and ram the other goats off their deck.
"Stanky Frankie"
Was originally bred to be a "show goat" getting taken from place to place getting judged on his "performance" and ultimately was given away to us when he was no longer earning income for the people who had commodified him. He became a permanent part of our family very quickly, with his endless spunk, spitfire-ness, he is

He became a permanent part of our family very quickly, with his endless spunk, spitfire-ness, he is loving but likes to test his goat brothers to see who is the toughest.
Malinois/Boxer
First dog of the sanctuary, from the Valencia County shelter, we got him when he was just a puppy, the last left of his litter. He is strong, goofy, loves to bird/squirrel watch, and has a big attitude, especially when you wake him from a nap.
"Todo"- Malamute/Wolf
Bred into a family of wolves with his mom being full wolf and dad being half wolf/malamute, to be sold on craigslist. We got lucky enough to take him in as he was the last of the littler and wasn't "selling". He was stuffed in a tiny crate and given to us terrified and covered in ticks and fleas. He is so loving, loyal, and definitely the baby of the pack. He can be found howling most times of the day and likely around 2 am when you're sound asleep.
"Yoki Bear" - Australian Shepard/Husky
Our sweet girl had a very rough first couple years of life, she was dropped off at the shelter by someone who decided they didn't want her anymore while pregnant, the shelter then spayed & killed her litter of puppies inside of her. When she first joined sanctuary here, she was terrified of being alone. Her separation anxiety was so bad, she was glued to our hips no matter where we went, she was there with us. She has since become the "Mom" of the pack and is loving, caring, and dependable. Loves to cause mischief and show the boys who is boss outside when they try to roughhouse with her.
"Kashi" - Rottweiler/Ridgeback
With a rough past, Kashi came from a past of abuse. While we can't be sure of the entirety of the abuse, it was very obvious in his interactions humans. His nose had been burned several times but that of which looked like cigarettes. He took awhile to warm up, but we are now his best friends. He has a very hard time accepting anyone new, but is so loving and loyal to his family. He is a big ball of energy and goofiness. The best protector of the sanctuary and family.
(Don't try sneaking onto our property)
"Nezzy" - Pitbull
Taken in from a family who couldn't keep her due to not having enough time to get her acquainted with the dogs they already had. She is both the most outgoing, welcoming and courageous dog here as well as the most cautious, jumpy and nervous. She has so much love for her family and loves a good cuddle. If you don't like nonstop wet kisses, she's not the puppy for you.
The one who started it all, first animal we ever took in and many came quickly after. He is a feisty little ball of energy who lets you know very clearly what he does and doesn't like.
The destroyer of all things. She loves to chew anything and everything she can find. Will knock over or dig out every plant accessible. The biggest cuddler and bed hog around.
The senior of the sanctuary. Yamo Blamo is much like his orange brother Sweet Potato, a feisty one. He loves a good cuddle, butt scratch, and likes to save his sneezes for cuddle time.
The house panther. Soy Boy is usually always somewhere up high where he can observe from a distance. He is sneaky and likes to think of himself as the alpha. He doesn't come asking for cuddles but gives in when he gets them.
Lenty, aka the loverboy. He and his biological sister truffle are the little fluffballs of the group. He loves coming up offering up true kisses on the lips and will accept endless cuddles.
Truffleton, biological sister of Lentil. Can and will take over any available lap for a cuddle regardless of what's in the way, she will make room.
